Life Insurance

In some cases, you might be required to buy life insurance in order to pay child support and alimony in the event of your death.

The Good news? Term life insurance isn’t all that expensive. Say you’re 40 years old and a nonsmoker. In your case, you’ll have to pay around $432 a year for a 20-year, $250,000 policy.

Health Insurance

If you’re dependent on a spouse’s employer-based plan for health insurance, then after you divorce you may need to look for other options. If you don’t have access to your own employer plan, you could get help and coverage from HealthCare.gov. Another option is paying to keep coverage from your former spouse’s plan through COBRA.

You’ll find that, when you compare prices, plans under Obamacare are your best options. In some cases, however, staying with a higher-price coverage might be best for your health care.
