Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson is an example of a rich president that made a fortune and grew up in a very poor family. Considering this, you shouldn’t rush to any conclusion: he wasn’t a self-made man.
In fact, his fortune came as a lucky charm, because he married an extremely rich woman that died right before he became president. One of the most controversial decisions he took during his presidency was to kill and march off their land the Native Americans, lands that he later took and transformed in a Southern cotton kingdom.
The territory will soon become the center of the new slave economy, and Jackson will greatly profit from it.
Summary: It is unknown how much he earned before his presidency, but after it, his wealth certainly reached $132.6 million (adjusted for inflation).
This next President was rich….. then poor….. then VERY rich…..
