Specialty meats
The selection of available options in the meat department has decreased, mostly because of coronavirus outbreaks in the meatpacking plants.
Meat producers were forced to temporarily close plants, and those who managed to stay open only with some skeleton crews had to focus entirely on producing more basic products, like bone-in cuts.
Plus, given that those essential large orders from restaurants and schools were cut down substantially, it’s no surprise that everyone had to adapt.
Even more, beef and pork production in May 2021 were down 25 percent and 15 percent in 2020. Even if you might not be able to get the exact cut you wished for, there are still plenty of options to purchase out there!
