Ana Botín, Executive Chairman of Banco Santander

Now here’s a family tradition that would make anyone proud! Ana Botín is the fourth generation in her family to take over such a distinguished, high power position, now at the helm of Banco Santander since 2014.

Now, skeptics might say that family traditions don’t count, but the truth is that the position wasn’t just handed to her. In fact, Botín first proved herself by becoming the first CEO of a UK bank back when she became the head of Santander UK.

And as we all know, 2020 has been a particularly devastating year for everyone. When things took a hard turn, she even gave up half of her annual salary in order to launch the Together Solidarity Fund. This fund helped provide much needed medical materials to healthcare providers when COVID-19 ravaged the world!
