Think of it as virtual staging, especially nowadays when people want to have less contact with others due to COVID-19.
And this trend may continue for a long time as more and more people realize just how cost-effective it is. Of course, an agent will be more than happy to take you on a tour, so they won’t tell you about these little changes right off the bat!
Even the Lawn May Be Fake
If you’ve fallen in love with a property’s garden, don’t take it at face value. It’s OK to ask whether the lawn is fake, when the flowers have been planted and if they’re appropriate for all kinds of weather.
If you don’t, a few weeks down the line you may end up with dead grass and a pile of dead flowers that you will have to take care of- and such huge changes don’t come cheap.
‘As-Is’ and ‘Fixer-Upper’ Aren’t Always the Same
If you’re looking for a fixer-upper, make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into! For example, if a house is marketed ‘as-is’ you might think it’s a perfect project for you.
In actuality, the house probably didn’t pass inspection, meaning that you’ve got quite a bit of work ahead of you! In some cases, you may pay more for repairs than you would for the purchase itself!
