1913 Liberty Head nickel coin

Would you ever pay $5 million for a coin? Well, one collector did exactly that in 2007. The 1913 Liberty Head nickel coin specimen known as the Eliasberg Specimen is one of the most expensive coins in history.

That’s not so surprising once you find out that only 5 of these nickels still exist today. In 2010, one sold for $3.7 million while in 2013, another sold for $3.2 million at Heritage Auctions!

1804/1834 proof eagle $10 coin

Here’s another coin that sold for a staggering $5 million at an auction in 2007. The 1804/1834 proof eagle $10 coins, minted in 1834 were offered as gifts to Asian officials by President Andrew Jackson himself, so it’s no wonder they’re so sought after.

With only four of these around in the world, you won’t find any hiding in a long-forgotten back pocket, sadly.
