Warehouse clubs are known for amazing deals on a selection of items, so much so that you can stock up on all your needs by paying less than you would at typical stores in just one trip! But that doesn’t mean it’s always worth it to shop from them!

There are some items that you should avoid- purchasing them from warehouse clubs makes no sense, and you won’t score any good deals. For some of these, it also doesn’t make sense to buy in bulk, either, so it’s best to just avoid them entirely and shop elsewhere!

1. Books

Unlike the majority of the items on our list, books won’t go off if you don’t read them within a few days. But that doesn’t mean you should buy them from warehouse clubs just because they’re within reach during your shopping trip.

You can find them for cheaper on Amazon, or you could opt for e-books instead if you want to help save the environment! If you’re an avid reader and don’t mind paying a little extra for books, then supporting a local bookstore should be a priority instead of purchasing them from warehouse clubs.

But if you really, really want to go the cheapest route, then borrowing them from your local library is the way to go!

Next, you’ll not want to spice up your life for once…..

  1. BECAUSE I AM A SINGLE PERSON, I DON’T BUY A WHOLE LOT FROM THE BIG WAREHOUSE STORES AS PRICES ARE BETTER AT WALMART, DOLLAR, DISCOUNT, OR GROCERY STORES.

THE ITEMS I AVOID ARE THOSE SOLD IN BULK …PAY OUT IS TOO LARGE FOR SUCH LIMITED USAGE.

THE ITEMS I BUY ARE THOSE SOLD IN AMOUNTS I CAN USE, OCCASIONAL BULK ITEMS THAT DON’T SPOIL, THAT ARE A PRICE EQUAL TO OR SLIGHTLY LESS THAN OTHER STORES, CLOTHING ITEMS ON SALE THERE.

THEY SHOULD CONSIDER A WAY TO MAKE IT COST EFFECTIVE FOR SINGLE PEOPLE.

  2. Yes – here is my list:
    1. Never buy soda at club stores unless you drink so much that you can’t wait a week for a sale.
    2. Don’t buy 100% juice either – I have yet to see a bulk price at a club store that I couldn’t beat at the grocery store sale or discount stores. Most recently, I bought 2 cartons of Doles 100% juice & 100% juice blends for $4.00 at Landis, a store that doesn’t usually have competative prices. And you can buy a 64 oz bottle of apple juice for $1.50-$2.00 on sale always at one of your local food stores. They just can’t match these prices.
    3. Potato Chip Brands – Club stores may have great prices on generic brands of potato chips, but if you have a favorite brand of chips, buy them on sale at your local market. They run sales like BOGO free and multiple buy sales such as 2 Utz for $5 or 3 Lays for $6 and straight sales like Goods 12 oz bag $1.99 – just can’t beat these prices in bulk.
    4. Ice cream Brands – I have yet to see Club stores beat Turkey Hill Ice cream 48 oz. on Sale for $1.99.
    5. Vitamins – Never buy these at Club stores when you can get them on sale 2 for one or buy one get one 50% off at many stores
