15. Elevator Installers and Repairers

It’s very likely that most of us know by now that elevators are completely safe. Though horror movies still try to instill the fear of getting stuck in one only to plummet to our deaths, the truth is they have various systems in place that make it all but impossible for this to happen.

And making sure that these systems don’t ever, ever fail are elevator installers and repairers.

These workers assemble and maintain everything from elevators and chairlifts to moving walkways (you’ve seen and probably used them in airports). Making sure these things which are used by hundreds of people daily, are up to standard, is no easy business.
