As some of you might know, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) initiated accepting 2021 tax returns on January 24, which is two weeks earlier than the start of last year’s filing date. The majority of you will have until April 18 to file, but the agency will have a long road ahead of it.

IRS officials will have extra work to do in the same amount of time, as there are lots of coronavirus stimulus checks and scaled-up child tax credit payments. If you’re preparing for your return, or to file your taxes to get your refund, here’s what you need to know:
